About

The Ave Maria Baseball Club seeks to create an environment where boys, ages 6-12, can play baseball while learning to live a life of virtue.

The Ave Maria Blue Sox 2026 season will be played at Semmel Road Park in Mendon, from 9-11am on Saturday mornings beginning April 18 and ending June 13. Rainout makeup dates, if needed, will be June 20 and 27. The club is part of the St. Thomas Aquinas Homeschoolers of the Rochester Area (STAHRA).

Again this year, we encourage boys ages 13+ to volunteer as umpires and assistant coaches, and fathers to volunteer as coaches.

What are the registration costs?

$55 per boy for STAHRA members
If you are not a STAHRA member yet, please sign up here, then you will be able sign up for Ave Maria Baseball

Registration costs cover:
– Uniforms – hat, jersey, socks — all yours to keep!
– Equipment – bases, baseballs, catcher equipment, batter helmets
– Field rental
– Insurance (though STAHRA)

When are the practices and games?

Saturday mornings April 18–June 13 from 9:00–11:00am. If needed, rainout makeup dates with be Saturday morning June 20 and 27. Generally, the first hour will be practice, followed by a scrimmage game in the second hour.

Who are the coaches?

Coaches Tom Carroll, Dan Donohue, and other fathers with sons on the team.

Where is the ball field?

All practices and games will be held at the baseball field in Semmel Road Park, located at 95 Semmel Rd, Honeoye Falls, NY 14472.

What should my son bring each week?

Required:
– Glove
– Baseball Pants or Sweatpants (not shorts)
– Athletic Core Supporter

Optional:
– Bat
– Batting helmet
– Water Bottle
– Cleats, Batting Gloves, etc.

We Will Provide:
– Bats
– Baseballs
– Batting Helmets
– Catchers Gear
– Team uniform (Hat, T-Shirt, Socks)

What if it’s raining?

We will email parents before 8am on Saturday if the morning’s practice/scrimmage game is rained out.
